How to dress for your session....

One of the most important things to consider before your session is what you will all be wearing.

It is your session and you need to feel comfortable in what you are wearing, but please have a read below to give you some ideas.

Try to avoid BIG LOGOS or tshirts with writing on them as they will draw the eye away from the people. Obviously the following does not stand true if the t-shirt is saying something relevent to the session!

FAMILY GROUP SHOTS

love this classic modern look that will never date.

The whole family wearing white T-shirts with Jeans, no one stands out more than anyone else and pretty much everyone has a white top and pair of jeans in their wardrobe, so no need to go shopping!

White tops with JeansThis combination of clothing is easily achieved without buying new clothes and it looks lovely & natural. No one stands out more then the other people

Works well on black backdrop too.

Another option is to have all the adults in whit& the child/ren wearing a different /boldcolour pattern, this will naturally bring the viewers eyes to the children! d-305-Editd-305-Edit Or keep the baby looking pure in white and Mum & Dad can bring the colour into the image.
Or Mum & Dad in Black with baby wearing a lovely bright striped top, to brighten up the image.

Another example, with Mum & Dad in black, and their gorgeous little boy in his dungarees.

For Newborn shots on black backdrop, I like it when parents wear black so there is no distractions and all focus is on baby, with Mum & Dad looking on.

Also works with older babies

This family decided on blues for their colour scheme, which works well to bring some color into the image. More Blue's with a little bit of pink on the girls jumper dresses. lgbs-9-Editlgbs-9-Edit

More blues with blacks.

Boys in blue & girls in pink works well,
These neutral pastel tones with white give a lovely soft natural feel.  Neutral tones work well against the newborn's delicate skin.
Mum has done a beautiful job getting all her childrens colours to match, whilst still letting their own personalities shine through. These girls have very different dresses with patterns all over, but Mum has done a fab job at making sure they still match with colours
These 3 look fantastic in their white & red combinations. cot-1-Editcot-1-Edit Clothes don't have to match, you can buy the same top in different colour? fr-fls-51-Editfr-fls-51-Edit

Try to avoid BIG LOGOS or tshirts with writing on them as they will draw the eye away from the people. As seen below, sorry to Ben to use you as an example!!

Do bring hats!! I love hats!

Newborns look beautiful in hats too, I have many newborn hats which you can borrow! of-174-Edit-3of-174-Edit-3

Tutu's and hairbands/clips look fantastic on little girls

Both these tutus are at my studio as well as others! Please email me if you would like to borrow so I can have ready for you!!

Hooded towels make for great shots of babies

It is not easy selecting clothes for your session, but the easiest way to do it is to look through your wardrobes and find items from everyone's wardrobes with colors that co-ordinate with each other. Lay them all on the floor/bed and see what you think works best

If you are buying new clothes I will be creating a new blog soon about choosing clothing.

Feel free to contact me for more help or take a picture and text/email it through to me to ask for support?!

Please also feel free to bring multiple outfits. You could bring certain outfits for family shots and different outfits for the children for shots by them self.
